A 1 × 1 convolution, run forwards. The kernel is a rod — one
spatial position, all three input channels — and each stop mixes the
channels at that position into one output value. The rod still
visits every spatial position, so the map it writes is the input's full
5 × 5: the output keeps the height and width because nothing
spatial ever happened.
