16.3 7-aside Competition April 2021
In order to gear up for competing in our first official RoboCup event, we hosted an internal 7 aside tournament. It was good to see a number of new teams participating and bringing in new ideas to the team. With the increased number of players we were able to develop more complex behaviors for both offensive and defensive strategies. The participants included :
- 7 Public School Lads
- Hold the Line
- Assembled Dead AI
- Chandrian
- Andries FC
The biggest lesson learned as a result of this is that we learnt that as a team we desperately need to optomise walk and kick skills. Additionally we saw that breaking through organized defensive structures is a lot more difficult with more people to get through. This means that we need to look more into passing into better positions.
The final results can be seen below, with the victor being 7 Public School Lads.
